As some of you know, I left the guild Pillage late in the Burning Crusades to start my own guild on Garona. Pillage at the time that I left was ranked the number three raiding guild on the Horde Side on our server. In Pillage, we were the first guild (Hordeside) to have killed Illidan on Garona and shared many good times within raiding. But shortly after Pillage got into Sunwell, the leader stopped raiding... I loved Pillage deeply, but it had not only stopped raiding the 25 man content, but the GM went on a kicking spree, and guild kicked over 130 people. I was one of the few that made the raiding cut for his "plan" for Wrath of the Lich King, that was still a full two months away at that time...
I left Pillage with a few of the remaining Pillage members, and formed Purgatory, as well as attracted many of the ones that were guild kicked during the Pillage GM's kicking spree. I was also able to attract several of the "popular" names on the server and kicked off a raiding schedule near immediately. I put our emphasis heavily upon Mt Hyjal / Black Temple at that point in time, because of our prior raiding experience, skipping SSC and TK. Our first two weeks was booming with raiding progression, but quickly lost a bit of our steam when some of my head strong members clashed and left the guild. I pressed on, filling our ranks slowly but surely, with members that were like minded to me in raiding.
We cleared Black Temple three times before Wrath released, even though we were not able to down Archimonde within Mt. Hyjal. We also killed Vashj and Kael within SSC and TK as fun nights before Wrath released! We left the Burning Crusades and entered into Wrath ranked number five on the progression (with two of those five being dead raiding guilds) for the hordeside, accomplishing all this in less than two months.
Journeying into Wrath raiding was a bit slower than I had liked, we did not step into the raid content until end of November and early December :( But we quickly picked up pace, and in the first week of raiding we cleared 10 man Naxx, Archivon the Stone Keeper, and Obsidian Sanctum! We cleared a few bosses in Naxx 25 man and cleared the Obsidian Sanctum, right before the Christmas and New Years holidays. After two full weeks off for the holidays, we came back to fully clear Naxx 25 man in our first real week of progression raiding, we also pulled off two 10 man Malygos kills in this week! This past week we cleared Naxx in five and a half hours, and began working on Malygos 25 man! In our first two hours of attempts on him, we got him down to five point something million hit points left! We called the raid and picked it back up the next night... We spent four hours working on Malygos before we downed him!
This victory has set us very solidly in the number two raiding position on the Hordeside for Garona! It has proven to our server, that we are compeditive within the raiding community for the Horde of Garona!
For the Horde!
